My story
I'm a Hafnarfjörður local through and through — I've lived here for most of my life, aside from a stretch in Dalvík from 2000 to 2006 — with my family. I have three boys who keep me on my toes just as much as work does.
My interest in computers and technology started early and has stuck with me ever since. I've worked in IT since 2013, starting out in general systems administration and user support before gradually moving into more specialized work — networking, hosting infrastructure, and large-scale deployments of solutions like Nutanix and Cohesity. What keeps me engaged is the variety; no two days are the same, and I enjoy untangling complex problems and making them simple for others.
As a generalist systems administrator, I've built broad knowledge across most areas of IT infrastructure, including networking. I have extensive experience designing, deploying, and operating both wide-area and local networks, including large-scale rollouts and replacements of Fortinet equipment for larger clients. This breadth means I can take on projects end-to-end — from networking and hosting through to user support — without needing to hand things off to other specialists. That said, I know my limits and have no problem bringing in others when needed.
I take pride in being a reliable point of contact for the people I work with, whether that's a client who needs clear answers or a colleague who needs someone to take charge. Service-mindedness and keeping things running smoothly matter more to me than having the final say on technical implementation details.
Outside of work I'm big on video games, hunting, staying active, and tinkering with all sorts of things — which is probably a big part of why technology drew me in to begin with.
